Each March we host multiple nights of laughs and fun at our Charity Comedy Nights. This year, Chuck Roy and Steven Young return! They are joined by comedians Stephanie McHugh and Mike Langworthy. This night of comedy may not be suitable to young ears, but we try our best to keep the comedy clean!

Why are we raising money?

This is one of our largest fundraisers of the year, and this year the funding is going to an amazing project that will change the way we serve Domestic Violence survivors in the Uintah Basin.

Friends Against Family Violence was honored to receive outside foundation and grant funding to purchase the old Dialysis Center on 500 South in Vernal. This large investment into our community will allow us to reimagine how Domestic Violence services are provided in the Basin.

This fundraiser is part of a capital campaign to raise $400,000 to create a new Housing and Advocacy Center.

We will use the funds to renovate the building, which will allow us to provide the following services and resources to survivors of domestic violence:

Three transitional housing units - the first DV transitional housing units in Uintah County
Three advocacy offices for survivors to meet with advocates
Support group room for peer support groups and healthy relationship classes
Virtual room for survivors to attend virtual court hearings and access telehealth safely and reliably
Emergency short term child care to allow survivors to go to interviews and appointments
Donation storage to help connect community donations to survivors
Administrative offices because HR, grant management, policy writing, etc. keep our nonprofit going

Meet the Comedians

Stephanie McHugh

Stephanie started comedy at 35, married with 2 kids; the prime time to start a new career…ten months later, she won a trip to the Las Vegas Comedy Festival. Stephanie has appeared on Nick at Nite's TV Show "America's Funniest Mom" and was on The Steve and Stephanie Morning Radio Show on KOOL 105. Check out her new Dry Bar Comedy Special “Rocks in My Shoe.”

Mike Langworthy

Mike is an award-winning writer/producer who has worked on over five hundred episodes and counting of television, including The Drew Carey Show, Eight Simple Rules, Instant Mom, and HULU’s popular web series, The Five-To-Niners. He currently writes, develops and produces for all platforms in the United States, Canada, Ireland, The United Kingdom and Europe.

Steven Young

Steven rocked the house at the Great American Comedy Festival. Social media audiences love to laugh and drink beer while watching Steve’s podcast @DearComics on Instagram and TikTok. He’s got a unique gift for understanding what makes audiences laugh. He tailors his jokes and improvisational skills to fit the energy of the room, ensuring that everyone has a good time.

Chuck Roy

Chuck is featured on Will & Grace, 3rd Rock from the Sun, and Last Comic Standing. In 2021, Chuck earned his MBA from Western Governor’s University and teaches business classes at the Community College of Denver. He’s recently received an award for innovative teaching from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival.
